Reality check: Two-thirds of Americans still don’t have smartphones
Some 234 million Americans have mobile phones, comScore reports. Of those, only about one-third, or 82 million people, have smartphones. That number is growing fast — up 10% from earlier this year, comScore says. But it still means that almost two-thirds of Americans don’t have smartphones.
This suggests that there are still huge growth opportunities ahead. For now, the winners appear to be Google, Apple, and Samsung, while the losers include RIM and Microsoft.
