Survey says: 94% of iPhone owners want another iPhone, 47% of Android owners want another Android
Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster surveyed 216 mobile phone subscribers:
Among existing iPhone users 94% expect to buy another iPhone (6% expect to switch to Android); among existing Android users 47% expect to buy another Android smartphone (42% expect to switch to iPhone). In other words, our survey suggests Apple will take share from Android in the future.
Many Android phone owners, I suspect, bought their phones because they wanted an iPhone but it wasn’t available on their carrier. So the Android phone was the next-best option. The next time Verizon subscribers upgrade their phones, that won’t be an issue. And I expect Apple to support T-Mobile and Sprint at some point.
