If the new iPhone won’t ship until October, what about the rest of iOS 5?
At All Things D, John Paczkowski’s sources say the new iPhone won’t launch until October.
My question is whether “launch” means “start shipping” or “get unveiled.” It sounds like it’s referring to when the new phone will go on sale, not when Apple will announce it.
I suspect — but don’t know — that Apple will still unveil the new iPhone in September, at its annual music product event. That’s when the company typically updates the iPod touch, and it would be weird to do that without going over everything in iOS 5 and iCloud. It also makes sense to introduce the new iPhone hardware at that event instead of a separate, later event.
Perhaps iOS 5 and some of the iCloud stuff will launch ahead of the new iPhone, for existing users and new iPod touch buyers? Or maybe everything is being pushed back into October — music event and all? And what about that new iPad?
Also: Smart cover, indeed: Average iPad price including accessories is up $50
