Amazon testing delivery lockers inside 7-Eleven store
The Daily’s Matt Hickey has the scoop. This is an interesting potential tie-up: 7-Eleven isn’t really an Amazon competitor, has stores that are open around the clock, and stands to benefit from people coming in to pick up their Amazon box and impulse-purchasing a Gatorade on the way out.
I assume Amazon will have to pay rent for the square-footage it’s taking up, but not an insane amount. I probably wouldn’t use this, but I like the idea.
Update: Good question from Steve Johnston on Twitter: What does this mean for Amazon’s sales tax implications? Does this count as a physical presence?
