Jony Ive’s annual British newspaper interview

The most-circulated clip you’ll see from this interview with the Telegraph is where Ive teases that the best work he’s ever done is “what we’re working on right now, which of course I can’t tell you about”. Secret new products! No way!

But the most important bit of Ive’s interview is near the end of part two, where he says:

“We’re developing products in exactly the same way that we were two years ago, five years ago, ten years ago. It’s not that there are a few of us working in the same way: there is a large group of us working in the same way.”

Apple after Steve is still mostly the same as Apple with Steve: It was never just one guy running the show; there are a lot of people there, doing the same thing they’ve been doing all along. Change is, of course, inevitable. But the situation seems stable, and that’s the best possible thing for Apple.
