The majority of Twitter’s revenue now comes from mobile

Shira Ovide for the WSJ:

On most days, Twitter is now generating the majority of its revenue from ads shown to its users on mobile gadgets, rather than from ads on, company executives said.

Meanwhile, from Facebook’s IPO filing:

…we do not currently directly generate any meaningful revenue from the use of Facebook mobile products, and our ability to do so successfully is unproven…

Sure, sure. Many unknowns here. Facebook’s overall revenue and size still dwarfs Twitter’s. Who knows how much money Twitter will end up making. Facebook just turned on mobile ads. Facebook and Twitter aren’t really competing. Etc.

But Twitter is arguably more prepared for a world gone mobile than Facebook. And that means something.
